What this site is
MedigapWindow.com is an information hub for U.S. Medicare beneficiaries entering or in their federal 6-month Medicare Supplement (“Medigap”) Open Enrollment Period. It computes your specific 6-month window from your date of birth and Medicare Part B effective date, surfaces the rules in your state, lists the federal qualifying-event protections that may re-open the window after it closes, and points you to the free state SHIP counselor option.
We are not a Medicare broker. We are not a government agency. We are not affiliated with Medicare. We are a privately-operated information hub that prioritizes accuracy over conversion.
Our editorial standards
- Federal Medigap claims (6-month OEP, plan-letter benefits, qualifying-event protections) cite medicare.gov, cms.gov, 42 U.S.C. § 1395ss, or 42 CFR § 422.2260+ as primary source.
- State Medigap claims cite the state insurance department or NAIC standardization documents as primary source.
- We never cite Medicare-broker funnel sites (eHealth, MedicareFAQ, Boomer Benefits, NCOA) as primary — only supplementary.
- Plan-letter benefits matrix cells are quoted verbatim from CMS. We do not paraphrase federally-frozen benefits language.
- Every page that makes a policy claim shows a PolicyStatePin with the last-verified date (YYYY-MM-DD) and the primary-source URL.
- For federal-floor states (states without rules beyond the federal 6-month OEP), the page cites the federal medicare.gov source directly. For state-specific rules (CA, CT, ME, MA, MN, NY, OR, WI), the page cites the state DOI or NAIC standardization page. We never fake a citation.
- The OEP-decoder calculation is deterministic from the federal rule; same DOB + same Part B date → same window dates, every time. Cross-implementation determinism is verified by 12 test cases on every build.
- We do not log your DOB, Part B effective date, state, or Medicaid status. The OEP-decoder runs in your browser.
Editorial reviewer
Every page on this site is reviewed by either a state SHIP volunteer (with state-coordinator written confirmation) or a licensed Medicare insurance broker (with NPN-verifiable credential via the National Insurance Producer Registry). Where reviewer onboarding is in progress at this build, the page surfaces the placeholder block — we do not display a name until a real, verifiable credential is on file.
How we pay for this
v1 of MedigapWindow.com runs without compensated routing to Medicare brokers. We may run privacy-respecting display ads on this site (no remarketing pixels, no Personalised Advertising on this Sensitive-Audience-classified content). In a future v1.1 release, after our editorial reviewer signs off on the disclosure copy against 42 CFR § 422.2260+ TPMO requirements, we may offer an optional, fully-disclosed compensated referral path to licensed Medicare brokers. Until then, no compensated routing happens anywhere on this site.
